Excellent stay and very warm welcome Bev and Toby are a really nice couple who have put in a lot of hard work into making this a nice place to stay ,the breakfast and evening meals are very nice.Bev showed a lot of interest in our stay telling us of places to visit The location for us was ideal, the room was clean the bed was huge the TV could do with a few more channels and maybe up grading but after a hard day walking the beautiful surroundings we didn't watch much tv.

Tips:

Plenty to see and do the stair case ,the mountains.just grab a leaflet from the guest house.

We chose to have dinner at Mansefield Guest House on the night that we arrived, which turned out to be an excellent choice as it was quite delicious and we had the whole dining room to ourselves! Breakfast was good as well. We enjoyed our stay and would stay here again if we ever return to Fort William.

Can't rate this guest house highly enough! It is excellent! The hosts are so welcoming and extremely helpful giving advice and information about the local area.Facilities in the rooms are excellent and the beds are so comfortable. My best night's sleep in ages! As for the breakfast, what can one say..... absolutely delicious. They have an excellent choice on the menu and do try the smoked haddock or smoked salmon! This is an excellent place to stay and so reasonably priced.

Tips:

If you are not dining at Mansefield and prefer somewhere quieter than the main town of Fort William, try the Lochy. A 15 minute walk down the Caledonian Canal from the doorstep.

We sincerely enjoyed your wonderful guest house. Everything was first rate for sure. We are sorry that we didn't include dinner in our visit as we were only able to get into the pub for supper

Tips:

We tried to go out for dinner but one of the 2 restaurants was not accepting customers as their staff were all dedicated to another event. The only other place to eat was a pub with a 30 minute wait.

This is the second time we have stayed at Mansfield. The first time was 5 years ago. We were looking forward to staying again and the service was still of the same high standard. Bev and Toby were very welcoming. Great view of Ben Nevis. Delicious breakfast, including vegemite (an acquired Australian delight)!

Tips:

The Moorings was a good place to go for dinner - next to Neptune’s Staircase. If you go to Neptune’s Staircase in the morning, try to time it so that you are there to see The Jacobite Express go past!

Good location about 3 miles from Fort William. Lots of tourist information available at the guest house on places to visit / things to do in the area. Good advice provided by the proprietor (Toby) on the local area. Comfortable bedroom with tea and coffee making facilities and a good scottish breakfast.

Tips:

We stayed at the B&B whilst doing the 3 Peaks challenge and ate at the Ben Nevis Inn (located at the start point of the Ben Nevis walk, food and drink were both good, at reasonable prices.

A great place to stay to take in all Fort William has to offer. I needed somewhere to stay the night before starting a 3 peaks challenge and Mansefield was just perfect for this. It gave me the clean, and comfortable surroundings to ensure I was well rested before my challenge as well as providing me with a hearty breakfast for the hike up the Ben. It was well located for a quick stroll along the canal too with its stunning scenery. The hosts are friendly and welcoming which is a boon after a long train journey. I like the fact Mansefield is just out of the main town as it offers more tranquillity. Getting back into town only takes a few minutes though. It will be my 'go to' accommodation for Fort William from now.

Very helpful and well organised hosts. Character building.

Tips:

Although petrol station, which has cheaper fuel than first station if you arriving from the south, and a Tesco attached to petrol station, are across the road, the way the accommodation is arranged is all that you are aware of is the scenery from the back of the house which is great. Restaurants are a bit old but fish and chip shop had good takeaway and park at harbour perfect place to eat your dinner.

This was a beautiful house with very nice amenities. The bedroom and included bathroom were very comfortable and well maintained. Additionally, there is a living room with a fireplace and television. Breakfast was great, as well. I appreciate the hosts who were lovely, friendly people. They were good company and offered great suggestions about local things to do. Thanks for everything!

Thanks Jenna for your comments. We used to offer a later breakfast, we changed it to an earlier time as lots of our guests were asking for early breakfasts so they can get onto the hills or catch the first ferry to make the most of their day. We are always reviewing our customers needs and are grateful for your feedback.

Warm welcome from Bev & Toby. Good size room, spacious, top quality linen and towels. Excellent breakfast. Off street parking and free wifi always a bonus.

Tips:

Bev recommended the Moorings for dinner and made a booking for us, excellent meal and a pleasant walk along the canal. Note that the entry to the car park for Mansefield House is off the A road not the side street as we thought ! Do have a wander along the canal to Neptune's Staircase, if you are lucky, watch a yacht or motor cruiser making its way through the canal.

31st December 2016:

From the moment we arrived we loved the place. We were made very welcome by Bev and later met Toby, who was also very friendly and obliging. The room and on suite were spot on, comfortable and clean. There were tea and coffee making facilities, which is always a must for us :) There were some informative books and leaflets available about the area. We actually know the Fort William area very well, and keep returning as we like it so much. Breakfast was delicious and well presented. The dining room was lovely, and featured a real fire. We got to chat to Bev,who was knowledgable about the wild life in the area. Bev and Toby are well travelled and interesting - a nice couple and ideal hosts. We will recommend Mansefield Guest House to anyone, and hope to be back there ourselves in the not too distant future. Thank you for a lovely stay.

Tips:

There are too many things to list. We usually drive somewhere different every day. In our short visit this time, we went to Aviemore, where there are good selection of shops and cafes. We always visit the railway station there with my partner being a self confessed "steam nut". He usually buys books and memorabilia at the station shop. We often ride on the steam train from Fort William to Mallaig, when visiting. But it was fully booked this time. We had a trip to Oban which is lovely, and also Callendar, which has many nice little shops and eateries. It is a longish drive to these places, but well worth it, with all the beautiful scenery, mountains and waterfalls, and fantastic looking buildings along the way. My partner has walked up Ben Nevis four times in the past, which he greatly enjoyed, but time was too short this visit. Among the eateries we visited this time, was an Indian restaurant as you come in to Fort William's town centre. The food was fantastic and staff were really pleasant people. There is a book on the landing at the Mansefield, with lots of local information, including where you can eat. There is a little co-op a two minute drive up the road, for all your essentials. Enjoy :)

Had a great stay at Mansfield house. Bev & Toby were so friendly and helpful with our plans as we'd never stayed in the area before. The room was good and a huge choice of breakfast on offer. Location was a little out of town but I'd say that was fine as you really need a car when staying around here to get to walks and activities. Would recommend staying here to anyone looking to stay around Fort William.

Tips:

Definitely eat at the Ben Nevis Inn, food and beer is good here and priced well and if you want to splash out eating at the Inverlochy Castle is absolutely amazing.

A welcoming home away from home, Mansefield Guest House is a great place to stay. All our needs were catered for - comfortable rooms, excellent breakfasts, private off street parking, free wifi and very helpful owners Toby and Bev. We would definitely stay here again.

Tips:

We lined up for tickets for the steam train to Mallaig, but just missed out, so I'd recommend pre-booking if this is something you're interested in. Our second choice was Segwaying at the Scottish Segway Centre at Ballachulish - great fun despite the miserable weather! Also there are numerous restaurants of varying prices in nearby Fort William.

Up there with the best. Great place to use as a base for a few days as many of the top spots are within easy reach. A real bonus are the evening meals, without a doubt they are as good as anything you will get in a local restaurant and are real value for money.

Quiet, efficient and friendly service. Our second stay here and just as good as the first.

Tips:

We walked up to the Moorings Hotel along the canal. It can be busy, but pick up the 10% discount ticket from the house before you go. An evening meal can be had at the House but must be booked before midday - alas we've never been organised enough to manage that but the menu always looks good.

Toby and Beverley were fantastic hosts and it was especially nice to hear an Aussie accent. Thanks for the vegemite and the tips about 'single malts'!

Tips:

The Western Highlands railway is a real highlight and the experience was tremendous even though we used the regular service rather than the Jacobite Express (AKA the Harry Potter Train!). Also you must see the Neptune's Staircase.

This guest house is very typical for Scotland. The style, the hosts and the rooms are real scottish. If you are looking for this, then you are right. Breakfast is excellent and the host is very friendly. Finally, it is a good home base for exploring Highlands, we can recommend it.

Tips:

Hiking in Glen Nevis is a must for all visitors in Fort William. The drive to Mallaig (Jacobite Route) and the Harry Potter Hogwards Express viaduct can be recommended.

Enjoyed my stay very much. Hotel itself & location are great, in range of a whole host of significant landmarks with plenty to see and do. Welcoming host, room was excellent and all very clean and tidy. All the facilities you would expect within the house itself. Breakfast was lovely, and the packed lunch was very generous indeed. Would stay again.

Tips:

It's definitely worth reading up on a tourist site to get more of a feel for local sites worth visiting. However, within your room you will also find a guide book which will provide that information too which I found very helpful.

We are so pleased to have found Mansfield house. Toby and Bev are wonderful hosts . Nothing is too much trouble .their knowledge of the area is outstanding and helped us a lot as it was our first trip to the area .shame about Bevs broken arm ,Toby was breakfast chef that week and everything was first rate.he has a brilliant sense of humour ! These 2 are a brilliant team! A real home from home.

Tips:

The walk to fort William along the foot path is a must. The calodonian canal walk to neptunes staircase and beyond. The moorings is the best local place for evening meals . Food is fairly good but service can be hit or miss, but hey you're on holiday so what's the rush.crannogans sea food restaurant at the pier fort William is great for sea food. Climb Ben Nevis! A real sense of achievement! The train trip to Malaig is a must.

Beautiful guest house, really well looked after. Toby and Bev were the friendliest owners we have ever met. They really seem to love what they're doing and it shows throughout the entire b&b. The beds are enormous and the only thing that got us out in the morning was the great breakfasts

Tips:

Definitely eat dinner at the guest house at least once - it was the best food we had in fort william. The train from Corpach to Mallaig is stunning and there is fantastic fish and chips at the end.

Extremely comfortable family run establishment. Interesting interior full of character, just like the much travelled owners. Friendly and customer orientated service. Really a delight to visit.

Tips:

Fort William is an ideal centre to use as base to explore the varied delights of the area. Guests have on their doorstep some of the most magnificent scenery in Scotland. Beautiful sea lochs, moors and mountains, romantic and dramatic history all accessible within an easy drive of the guest house. For those who crave excitement, Fort William is also the Adventure Sports centre of the West of Scotland.
